Today, everything went better than could be hoped. By noon we had done all of the school work, plus the housekeeping. We ran errands, did some nature study and made our Spartan costumes after lunch. I like our schedule.
- Story
- Breakfast
- Math
- Spelling
- Reading
- Break
- Chores and /or errands in
- Hands-on subjects (art, science, history)
So, what
wasn't smooth? Math. CC has decided she hates math. When LB gets to K level, I will not do any math with her. I think my jumping around different programs has hurt
CC's enjoyment of math. We dropped the Horizon worksheet we were doing today and played a game from
RightStart. I think we are going to take a break from math and do
RightStart games for a few weeks until we get over this problem. I looked at the table of contents and decided that we could start with level C if we decide to go back to that program. CC is great at math, when she wants to be; otherwise, it would be
easier to pull her teeth out than get her to tell me the answer to a problem. Oh well, the rest of the day was excellent.
Tomorrow we will just skip the worksheet and start with the games.

Hi, I was just cruising blogs and came across yours. I love the pics, it looks like you all have a wonderful life.
What caught my eye was that you are having trouble with math, we too, did Horizons math and had problems with it - too much like public school math. We switched to Math-U-See and things are going much better.
If you don’t mind I’d like to read your blog once in a while. Donna
