Today, I read a list of goals for preschool for kids aged 3-6 that actually make sense to me. I might have to rethink my idea of preschool. I wonder how many preschool or kindergarten programs in this country can say that they meet these goals?
Desired Outcomes of Pre-school Education
At the end of pre-school education, children will:
- Know what is right and what is wrong
- Be willing to share and take turns with others
- Be able to relate to others
- Be curious and be able to explore
- Be able to listen and speak with understanding
- Be comfortable and happy with themselves
- Have developed physical co-ordination and healthy habits
- Love their family, friends, teachers and kindergarten

We put both our children into pre-school for precisely that crazy reason - to get ready for kindergarten. Oh I so wish I had read this article first:

Hi, I work at the Ministry of Education in Singapore (where you linked). Thanks so much for your compliments. I will forward what you wrote to them - the preschool unit is a bunch of great folks passionate about educating our young ones.
