"Now small fowls flew screaming over the yet yawning gulf; a sullen white surf beat against its steep sides; then all collapsed, and the great shroud of the sea rolled on as it rolled five thousand years ago."
I finally did it - I finished Moby Dick. I liked it to start with then grew weary of it, then discovered it was deeper than I imagined. Now that I am finished, I understand why it is such a big deal. I'm also glad that I managed to make it to the end without knowing the ending. It was much better that way.
When I finished it, I moved my bookmark back to chapter 1. Now I only have 135 chapters to go before I finish it again.
