Week 14 - BB is Home!

This is how we typically see BB. Computers are terrific, but last night he stumbled in from the airport tired and hungry. I fed him pot roast and gravy and sent him to bed. He's home for Christmas for a couple of weeks before he flies back to Tokyo. I'm a happy momma today.

CC has read this week -
Common Sense - it's her second time reading. She's fascinated with idea that this was written for the "common" man at the time.
Rose in Bloom - I have an IRL friend that loves Alcott and is feeding CC's passion for these.
Still reading Tom Sawyer.
Augustus Caesar's World - started for school

Read Alouds
A Christmas Carol- the girls are really enjoying it, and I'm reading in small bits.
Fearless Girls, Wise Women & Beloved Sisters by Kathleen Ragan
Lily's Big Day and Kitten's First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes
The Hat, The Mitten, The Umbrella, Honey, Honey, Lion by Jan Brett
We're Going on a Bear Hunt illustrated by Helen Oxenbury
Rattletrap Car by Phyllis Root
Big Momma Makes the World by Phyllis Root and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury

Activities
Snap Circuits  (both but at different times)
Noah's Ark Stickers (LB)
Ping Pong Animals (both, CC's invention made with ping pong balls, tissues, q-tips, hot glue gun and assorted supplies)
Nature Walk
Make gravy for dinner (CC)
Make cookies for desert (LB)
Chocolate chip Math game with dice - put chips in piles of 1 - 12 for each player. Take turns rolling the dice and pick up the pile of chips for each number rolled. Everybody wins a bowl of chips. (LB)
ETC2 (LB)
Math (both)
writing and editing  her Adventure story (CC).  She read a couple of articles on the structure of stories to help her get past a stuck plot point.  We spent a lot of time working with punctuating conversations.
Vocabulary (CC - dis was our word root)
Make a microscope (CC)
Fencing (CC)
Ballet (LB)
one day of ps enrichment school each

CC also spent a lot of time designing a Norse village with Gma.  They looked up names for places and things to create a more authentic environment.  I'll take pictures when they are done.   LB setup a day spa for me and did my hair and nails while I was on a long call.

We had a terrific week.  I was busy with work and distracted by anticipation of BB coming home.  The girls are learning and growing.

It sounds like a great hands-on week. I like your book list.

It sound like it was a lovely week. You do such a great job of capturing "fun" and hands on with "serious" academic stuff. Love it!
Hope the visit with BB is wonderful!

I am so happy for you to have your BB home :)

Also, you are a brave woman allowing a laptop next to the mixer. That would spell disaster at my house!
